Propeller

IMG_9003

Chopping

The still of noon

Pistons bang in sequence,

Igniting air and gas in fire,

Whirling,

O!

Breathing

With furious cacophony,

The Puritan silence

Cedes to pulsing

Rhythm

Note: This is sort of a mirror cinquain… but I just had to add the eleventh line in the center.  What can I say?  It makes a perfect rotor hub.

    1. Thanks! I was inspired by an airshow I went to over the weekend. Everytime I heard a propeller or a jet, there was a near Pavlovian response to see what was taking off. I found that it didn’t matter if it was a vintage airplane or a small Beechcraft or a 777 taking off: all were equally fun to watch.
