Light Ethereal

Suffer cloudy days,
For at dusk skyscapes create
A palette — vibrant —

That if, committed
To a canvas, would be sniffed
by vain curators:

“A Hallmark card, this!”
Snobbishly, with turned up nose,
Thus ignoring just

How cheesy, pretty
Postcard paintings win a smile
Not replicated

By Pollock, Rothko,
Nor Picasso; truthfully,
A simple sunset

Tugs at emotions
Simpler, primal; assurance
To our innocence —

That before the dark,
Nature bestows a gift of
Light ethereal.
